Nostalgia

Memories of a distant whisper,

converge with my garden's breeze.

Towards the stars above the white Throne,

I am the hawk that flies alone.

I left flowers everywhere I've been,

plenty have wilted but some still bloom.

Their scent is all that is left,

of joyful times and tearful smiles.

The Bridge and the Abyss

Unreachable road,

a single butterfly flies the path.

Like mother of pearl it shines,

under the full moonlight.

Over the golden river,

crowned with scented flowers,

guarded by invisible towers,

barring the way, I shiver.

A crystal bridge on the edge,

a guide to immortal lands.

I'm left at the abyssal ledge,

Searching for an another road in the sands.

Solar Eclipse

The eternal dance of three celestial bodies,
in a magnificent display of natural beauty,
fusing light and darkness, in a perfect sense.

Quiero

Decorarte en estrellas,
y vestirte de Luna.
Y con el rojo del amanecer,

As We Danced

The full moon waned that night,
as we danced through dreams of light.
And the world became just a mirage,
when I was holding Her reality in my arms.

My Moons

Two ethereal moons dancing
above me, different shades of pale
contrasted them, unfocused and dim.

Both are leaving for a better world
beyond, almost at once they're about to disappear
forever, once outshining Sol.

Both I loved and lost leaving only
a memory, that still as fresh as it is,
haunts me every night at dreams.

Fearing them fading away, leaving
only darkness behind...

I usually do not draw anything evil/dark in relation with Luna but this image popped in my head while listening to Moonspell's 'Capricorn at Her Feet'. Anyway, here's the sketch, I will edit this in my spare time and I'll show you how it comes out, k? CHeeRS!!!

Lady in White

Hovering above the misty hills,
Shadows playing behind Luna's gaze.
The silvery mountains nobody sees,
Arrange and form a ghostly-blue maze.

A Lady in white follows through,
Wandering endlessly, only searching.
For at the end of the road she looks,
A Love that can fill the emptiness within.

Claire de Lune

A marbled choir of Angels,
Shadowed by the Full Moon's Muse.
Her Reign, argent vast wonders,
Pillaging darkness with pride.

She brought a lance of Moonlight,
Piercing through the lightless veil.
Oh! Shining Muse, heed my cry:
Smite this emptiness within!

A single Nightmare lingers,
Clawing with razor sharp nails:
As far and high as thou are,
Blatant silence drowns my pleas.

Luna's Creation

As promised, in a few days there will be a Full Luna, but I will not be able to write anything over the course of this weekend, so that is why this post is earlier. There are about four studied theories of how Luna was formed/captured into Her actual position.

1. Fission Theory, which explains that somehow the Earth's centrifugal forces caused a big chunk of Earth's body to be released into space, leaving behind a scar - which presumably is the Pacific Ocean. This theory is likely wrong as the Earth's initial spin should have been immense and Luna should have followed the Earth's equatorial plane, and this is not the case.
2. Capture Theory explains that Luna was formed elsewhere and traveled into the Earth's gravitational field, capturing it into Her actual position. This one is also highly improbable.
3. Co-formation Theory explains that Luna was formed alongside the Earth but this does not explain the depletion of metallic iron on Luna.
4. Giant Impact Theory explains that a Mars-sized object crashed into a protoEarth about 4.5 billion years ago, fusing both planets and the expelled material that resulted form the crash collapsed into what we know as Luna.

Several models have been developed to study these theories and the only one that explains the angular momentum of the Earth-Luna system is the Giant Impact Theory, also known as the Big Splash. There are still some questions regarding this theory as the sizes of the crashing protoplanets is (and I guess will always be) unknown as well as the amount of material from both protoplanets formed Luna.

Red Luna

Tonight all of Mexico will enjoy a total Lunar Eclipse that will turn the Moon red. This is the first post of many that I will write in tribute to Luna, my Domina Oriens, every full moon.

"A lunar eclipse occurs at least two times a year, whenever some portion of the Earth's shadow falls upon the Moon. The Moon will always be full during a lunar eclipse; that is, from the perspective of the Sun, the Moon will be directly behind the Earth. However, since the orbital plane of the Moon is inclined by about 5° with respect to the orbital plane of the Earth (the ecliptic), most full moons occur when the Moon is either north or south of Earth's shadow. Thus in order to be eclipsed, the Moon must be near one of the two intersection points its orbit makes with the ecliptic, which are referred to as the Moon's ascending and descending nodes." -Source: Wikipedia
