One does not...

One does not simply fly into Europe. It's arrival gates are guarded by more than just orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. The great eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand tourists could you do this. It is folly. --Your Dad

HuMaNS!

Remember Agent Smith and how he described humanity? Well, I share that feeling. Don't get me wrong, I believe humanity has a lot of potential but, sadly, it is all utopia.

Humanity has not yet come to understand that this planet is ALL WE HAVE. We really are parasites, as this cute animation explicitly mentions it:

THiS iS YouR LiFe...

THIS is your life,
good to the last drop,
doesn't get any better than this.

This IS your life,
and it's ending,
ONE minute at a time.

This isn't a seminar...
This is no weekend retreat...

Where you are now,
you can't even imagine what the BOTTOM will be like.

Only after DISASTER,
can we be RESURRECTED.
It's only after you've lost EVERYTHING,
that you are free to do ANYTHING.

Nothing is static
Everything is evolving
Everything is falling apart

This is your life
it doesn't get any better than this
and its ending one minute at a time

You are NOT a beautiful and UNIQUE snowflake
You are the SAME decaying organic matter as everything else
We are all part of the same compost heap
We are the all-singing, all-dancing CRAP of the world

YOU are not your bank account
You ARE NOT the clothes you wear
You are not the CONTENTS of your wallet

You are not your bowel cancer
You are not your grand latte
You are not the car you drive
You are not your fucking khakis

You have to give up...

You have to realize that someday YOU WILL DIE
Until you know that, you are USELESS.

I say: Let me never be complete!
I say: May I never be content!
I say: Deliver me from Swedish furniture!
I say: Deliver me from clever art!
I say: Deliver me from clear skin and perfect teeth!

I say: YOU have to give up!
I say: EVOLVE and let the chips fall where they may!

THIS IS YOUR LIFE
doesn't get any better than this
and its ending
one
minute
at
a
time

WHY So SeRiouS?

I have watched the previous Jokers since the Adam West's show and every actor that played the Joker did a good job from the perspective and tone of the context.

The TV series Joker, Cesar Romero, was just crazy and he really didn't inspire fear. He was just eccentric and cartoon like.

The Tim Burton's Joker, played by Jack Nicholson, was a little darker Joker but although he played a little crazier and did some evil things he didn't inflicted fear.

Now with Heath Ledger's Joker, this character took a complete 360° turn. This Joker is the Joker I always thought could be. Deranged but incredibly smart and uses this to instill fear. This Joker is a real terrorist. He doesn't have a reason, he's an agent of chaos that simply wants to "see the world burn."

Heath's Joker, IMO, is the best Joker I've got to see. A darker, more sinister fiend who really looks insane and wants to see chaos reign. His only wish is to destroy that sense of "safety" our current civilization enjoy.

It's the kind of insanity, the kind of Joker, fit to our times, don't you think?

It's a shame we will not be able to see another Joker played by Heath. Let's hope the next one at least reaches the same level. He really shut up everyone who doubted him, wondering if a "gay cowboy" could outperform Nicholson as the Joker, I believe Ledger impressed even the Legendary Joker Nicholson with his performance.

But do not get sad, "LeT'S PuT a SMiLe oN THaT FaCe!!"

INTERSTELLA 5555

Just a second ago I was watching INTERSTELLA 5555 for the first time and is, with an extraordinaire music integration by masters of electronic music Daft Punk, one of the best animations I have ever seen with a story that can amuse even the most severe critics. Daft Punk brought the album and the completed story to Tokyo in the hope of creating the film with their childhood hero, Leiji Matsumoto.

I must honestly tell that even way back then in 2001 when I first watched the video for One More Time, I was perplexed by the story that was told. I knew there was a continuation for it when later that year the video for Aerodynamic came out, I understood that the album Discovery was telling only one story throughout the entire setlist.

A very dear friend of mine told me there was a movie by the name of INTERSTELLA 5555 that featured all the videos that were seen back in 2001. I must say that, eventhough I watched the videos for the first four tracks and thought that they were very good, I found the movie very entertaining and worthy of several watchings that will leave you with the same feeling with the closing scene.

If you, my dear imaginary reader, have not had the opportunity of watching this movie I invite you to look for it at a music store and ask for it (if you can't find it, you can alway download it) and spend a wonderful time with this one. My current favorite.

I'll leave a video for you to know what I'm talking about. THANX, DERICK, FOR THIS ONE!

Cheers and I'll see you next time!

Enjoy the entire movie:

Neill Blomkamp and the Halo movie

Hello IR, it's been a while since I wrote anything here, been very busy completing my objectives at work and writing my dog's (Molko) blog, so I sort of left mine on the side. I was checking out the "Halo: Arms Race" video released at the E3 and realized it was being directed by Blomkamp who, if you happen to know, is the chosen director for the upcoming Halo movie.

According to what I've read, Neill was chosen by Jackson after he watched "Alive in Joburg" which is pretty good and would be very interesting to find out how Neill will work in this project. After all, he will be crucified if the movie doesn't live up to Halo fans expectations. Of course many of them will be disappointed, there will always be fanboys who will never be pleased unless they get something exactly as they imagined it.

Anyway, here's the short film that got NB to direct Halo, followed by two more of his projects, named Tetra Vaal and Yellow, and the directed short film Halo: Arms Race. Happy Viewing.

Stupid Spidey

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

I cannot believe how stupid the character Peter Parker becomes with each movie. This was, among the three, my least favorite. Putting aside the dancing lessons that sure comes with the symbiote, the emo hairstyle, the black mascara, the professionally jealous girlfriend and the skinny Brock, this movie kinda sucks. Too long for me, they could have cut all the crap off and just leave the interesting stuff; leave the extra for the Extended Version, that would've been a smart move.

The new Venom, hmmm, didn't quite have the "strength" the original Venom has and was kind of ridiculous how Brock came in contact with the symbiote especially after asking god to kill Peter Parker for "humiliating" him. Parker did this because Brock forged a photo of Spidey robbing a bank and exposed him with the original picture and the changes he made.

Anyway, for me there was something missing in the movie, still don't know what it was, maybe the hype was part of this, but I didn't like it as much as the first two.

What do you think? Did you like it? Why?

Pulp Fiction

One of my favorite movies, in case you have not seen it, I recommend you do. Cult movie, definitely a must! Here i posted two videos regarding this movie:

Do you know what does Marcellus Wallace look like?

In case you have not watched Pulp Fiction, here's a f*cking short version of it.

Transformers Face Off

The new movie will rule, at least the graphics, hopefully the entire story. And for the eye candy, here's a face off Megatron (whose voice will be provided by Hugo Weaving (Hello, Mister Anderson)) vs. Optimus (I believe the original Prime's voice actor will return to make this movie, frankly, I have never heard his voice, at least not knowingly).

Cheers mates!

300

I am not going to go deep within the story, only that this is the best epic/action movie of the year 2007. Based on the Battle of Thermopylae interpreted by Frank Miller (you might remember him as the creator of the Sin City story, from which the movie of the same name was based on) in which 300 spartans stood against a vast Persian army.

You're "wowed" with every scene, the score is truly amazing and the photography is, well, just spectacular. There are no 'slow' scenes and the dialogues make you say "yeah!". Definitely an I-have-watched-it-X-times movie.

Just go and watch it! And watch it again and again! I know I will...

The Road to Awe...

This movie by Aranofsky is truly a masterpiece. The setting, the story, the photography, the musical score, the actors and their acting. A lot of people didn't like this movie and, really, it's no shocker as they have grown accustomed to commercial Hollywood films the likes of Titanic.

The movie has a very surreal environment, as if it's taking place in a dream. Fragments of different stories intertwine to reveal a whole. The main characters are the same in the different stories. Different stories? Yes, but only one theme. They all have a mission a bit different from the other, but somehow they are all connected to the tree of life. Of course they are connected through Izzy's manuscript, but the connection goes beyond this one. Izzy is Tommy's wife in the 'real' story, the other two stories originate in Izzy's telling about the search for the tree of life beginning in Spain, and according to her, ending in the future. They all lose their loved ones in the search for the 'tree,' as it may be the cure for cancer, the search for a fabled tree or the quest to resuscitate it.

In any case, death is the beginning to life. But still I don't quite get this movie. Watch it, think obout it and comment here if you have another opinion of the movie.
